| Pianola - Player Piano music rolls
![]() I always wanted a pianola, from the very first time I saw one, but never had the space until a few years ago, when I was fortunate to acquire an 88 note Klingmann player from a gentleman in the Peak District. The multitude of rolls that came with it were not really my style of music, but over the years I have bought and sold via Ebay and now have a nice selection.
The thought occurred to me that I should arrange some of my organ music and other classic organ arrangements for 88 note and I managed to find someone who could perforate the rolls from MIDI arrangements ( Richard and Janet Tonnessen in the USA).
I have made ten rolls and there might be no more. It depends on future demand. There is little demand for new rolls currently due to the economic downturn, and there is no profit to be made from this enterprise, but it's great fun. At the moment all the rolls are sold out. This doesn't mean to say that they are no longer available, but I have to have a minimum of 5 of each roll made, so if you would like one or more of the rolls and are prepared to wait a while, send me an email and I'll reserve you a roll from the next recut.
HCM 001 Mozart 40
This is a transcription from a Decap LP record from the early 1970's, arrangement by Albert Decap, and I made a roll based on the recording. SOLD OUT
HCM002 Kinep Boogie I made a version of this classic organ boogie for a Decap organ in New Zealand and also for my own street organ and the piano roll is derived from these arrangements. I believe that the tune was known as 'King Bug's Boogie' and recorded by Jimmy Lunceford, is that true? SOLD OUT HCM003 Elastiek March This also came from a Decap LP record, this time of 'Frangema' a 121 key organ. I suppose nearly every organ in Holland has a version of this tune! SOLD OUT HCM004 Johnny B Goode My Decap has a version of this tune and I transcribed it from the organ. SOLD OUT HCM005 Death or Glory In the realy 1970's there was a lp record made of 'De Cementmolen', a wonderful Carl Frei organ owned by the Roos family in Rotterdam, and this march is on the record as 'Dag van de glorie mars'. A few years ago and excellent film was made in the UK called 'Brassed Off' about a colliery brass band, and this march was used in the opening titles. The arrangement is based on the Razenberg version from the Dutch LP. SOLD OUT HCM006 Japanese Sandman medley I love the work of the late and great Gerard Razenberg and many of his books are still to be heard on organs in Holland. This is one of his medleys. (There has been a suggestion that the original arrangement on street organs was not by Razenberg, that's fair enough, but my version was transcribed from a tape recording. SOLD OUT HCM-FTNY Fairy Tale of New York A couple of years ago, there was a request on the MMD forum for a piano roll of this tune. For fun and as a challenge, I agreed to make the roll for them. This classic Pogues and Kirsty McColl melody is a joy on the pianola at Xmas. SOLD OUT HCM 007 Stay with me till the morning Mozart's KV622 melody, adapted to voice in 'The Young Amadeus' and very popular at present on street organs in Holland. Also known as 'Hopeloos Verloren' in Belgium and Holland. SOLD OUT SOLD OUT Enquiries for the rolls, via contact page please or via email To hear the rolls click the appropriate box below.
